Ok yesterday i rreplaced the serpentine belt and was going to do the plugs and wires as well started with the hardest plug to get to the one through the wheel well, went on to the second one cracked it so decieded to stop and take it to pep boys today they finished the job, now it idles fine but when i start to put a load on it shakes a little and loses power also in second and 3rd gear it knocks what can be causing this what can i do, also the rear abs light came on after they fixed the plugs then it eventually went off, the guy at the store looked at it again said possibly fuel injectors get so chevron and try that to start with the cheepest thing first, well i decieded not to do that just put some 93 gas in, i dont see how it can be the injectors when it was running fine before yesterday please help i need my car, oh yea it a 92 explorer 4x4
Don't know about the ABS light but,it sounds like a bad plug or wire causing it to miss under load. Maybe they didn't get one of the wires on all the way. I'd make sure the wires are on good and take it back. They do have a scope, they should be able to tell. Let them know it wasn't doing that before you brought it to them.
I said that to them but the problem was i cracked a plug so it was running bad when i brought it ton them but because i cracked the plug, so the manager came out and checked it he said probally injectors, am going to check the wires myself now and see, he also said the engine was shaking a little, but the abs light is off now so that fine, but they were suppose to test the wires thats what it said on the bill

Checked wires all seem to be connected properly what else could be causing this anyone know? heres a little more info for you, first gear when i first start off it goes ok maybe a little shake unitl i let my foot off the clutch, or if i give it alot of gas, second gear same thing but if i give it a lot of gas it will knock as well and shake a little same goes for the rest of the gears....this is very wierd to me ive had my 92 explorer for 2 years now no engine troubles has 173,000 miles on it i change the spark plugs and suddenly problems it also weird b/c it idles perfectly

Check and see if maybe a wire harness from one of the injectors came loose. Had a similar problem with my 98 one time when i was changing the wires and accidently knocked one of them loose.
98 has a good point but, I'm still putting my money on a bad plug or wire. I have had bad plugs right out of the box. It drives you nuts looking for something else because "the plugs are new". When it misses like that when you put a load on it, it is usually because of an ignition failure.
Another thought, pull a wire and see if it act the same or it gets worse. Maybe you can narrow it down to a cylinder. I can't believe with all that equiptment they have that they can only give you a guess.
Ok i checked it all, all seems to be ok, but one thing i noticed is that the wire connector that goes into the grey box not sure what you call it but all the spark plugs into it, one of the clips were broken and it looks like it was pulled off with pliers or something there a little gaouging, could that possibly be the problem? Also why would you have to take that connector off for just changing plugs and wires? Its going to my mechanic tommarow which is were i should of taken it in the first places but if i find out that is why or its b/c of there neglegence am putting a stop payment on the check i gave them, and going back and give them a piece of my mind.
Thanks for all the suggestions, i brought it to my mechanic today and he took it out said it was almost running lke it had a bad distrubuter cap like in the older cars had, he was just saying that he knew not distibuter cap, he was going to check the gap in the plugs, pulled the first plug out on the drivers side, put it on the table i say it was cracked, put a new plug in sure enough runs perfect, also it was running lean due to the bad plug, i went back to pep boys gave them a little piece of my mind refuned my money for the plug plus free oil change see were there comming from wanting a recipte from the garage, but i did not have one could not argue since he did it for free for me, I will never go to pep boys for service again and i would not suggest any of you go to PEP BOYS FOR SERVICE, I think i will sell my oil change pass for 10bucks to someone, also what made me feel good was the as. service manager got in trouble for not taking my car back and looking at it, instead of pulling a bs diognose out of his ***. thanks to everyone
