Temp sending unit

Temp sending unit

Can anyone tell me the location of the temp sending unit on a 1985 6.9 in a E350? I have determined the temp guage is not working properly and want to install A guage with actually temp. #'s.. Thanks for any help...

I would assume it's in the same place as on it's cousin (trucks). Look just in front of the drivers side head, just to the right of the injection pump gear housing cover, it should be on the angled piece. That is the stock sender, now for the overtemp sender (turns on at 240ish degrees) it's located right around the corner from the stock temp sender, the wiring for this shares the same loom. That sender is located on the outboard side to the head.

OK thanks for the info... I am asuming that I need to change the stock sending unit for an aftermarket gauge.. Correct???

correct .aftermartet should come with a sender

Thanks for the help....
I wasn't to keen on Fords till I got my Diesel....
Its my first and I know I won't go to anything else...

I have both running on The Enterprise. I left the stock sender in it's place and replaced the overtemp one with my ISSPRO sender. This way I keep the stock gauges working (for grins and giggles) but I also have a real gauge sitting in a pod on top of the dash.

Well changed it out with the stock sending unit... was unable to get to the over temp unit..... No problems.... Thanks for the help!!
