temp sending unit
can anyone tell me where the temp sending unit is on my truck. i have a 65 swb,240 3sp it has a temp guage but when i turn the ignition on it goes to full hot then slowly falls back down to cold and never moves again. i was going to start with sending unit and go from there. if anyone has a suggestion fell free.

The sending unit is located toward the rear of the block on the passenger side above the starter. Sounds like your gauge is working correctly and the sending unit is probably bad. However, is your engine actually heating up to temperature (ie, does heat blow in the cab)? The reason I ask is that the thermostat might be stuck open or missing as another possibility. I hope this helps.

Just a thought: Do the other gauges work properly?? The temp and fuel run thru the constant voltage regulator on the reverse side of the instrument cluster. The optional oil gauge runs thru it, but the optional amp gauge does not. It runs thru a 70 amp circuit breaker instead. If other gauge problems exist, I would check into this little part. Temp senders are cheap & common to replace however...
