When I was looking at the Ram 1500 I thought that you couldn't get the HEMI with a standard. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like almost all the LD, gas powered trucks out there that produce close to 300hp have automatic transmissions. To get a standard you would have to get the smaller V8's or the V6's. The 04 Ram isn't bad looking but I thought that the grill was too big, the older models looked better. Persoanlly I thought the F-150 was pretty good looking, the Tundra was nice, the Ram was ok, the chevy's and GMC's look awful and the Titan was just plain fugly.
Standard Hemi blah blah blah, standard isn't quite the maximum, and you don't push the bar with your standard model. Ford town MORE, even if the Hemi is rated to tow 9200, it's still not as much as the Ford.
1)This is your opinion, it's not a fact, I personally LOVE the new flareside that Ford has out, and I think the Dodge is the ugliest truck that the big 3 has out.
2)Does the manual Hemi out tow the F-150? Oh yeah, that's right, NO!
We'll see about a diesel when it gets out. You never know what's going to happen until it's at the dealerships for sale. Just like your theories on the new Lightning, all speculation until you can go buy one.
I wasn't sure I liked the new '04 F-150 body style when I first saw it, but the more I saw it, the more I liked it. It grew on me and now I own one and I love the way it looks. Hmmm...maybe I could date a fat chick and have the same thing happen. God, she could TOW more too!
You know, all of this is really just a silly ****ing match. There is one simple thing that a Chevy will not and cannot have-the blue oval. To anyone who has ever owned a Ford for work, the blue oval means far more than any dyno chart or rating. You can say whatever you like about chevy, but there is a reason that Ford busts their a**es in sales. Its big, its blue, and its round. That applies for Dodge too.
My blue oval fell off of my grill, and it's now sitting in a bucket in the garage, I suppose it's not really the oval that matters to me since I still like my truck......
I traded in an 01 Silverado extended cab for the 04 F150 Lariat Scab. The Chevy had 90k miles on it and never had anything but regular maintenance done. The interior of the Ford wins hands down. After several thousand miles the 5.4 definitely "feels" stronger than the Chevy's 5.3. The Ford handles the rough streets of the greater Houston better then the Chevy. However, the constant vibration of the Ford makes me wish I'd kept the Chevy. I have a 40+ mile commute to work and I'll take the cheap interior over the annoying vibration any day. What makes me sick is spending 27k for something I am unhappy with.
i like the dodge half ton hemis there big, manly(just joking) powerful they look great and look like they could tow more than chevy or Ford. that beng said ill take my old 66 ford over any truck=) they dont make em tough like they used to.
i just read all this, and a lot of it sound bogus to me. i understand that most of your opinions are biased. i understand that this IS a ford site, and i post on a chevy site too, and opinons are biased there too.
fordguy - if your check had a bowtie on it, would you like chevy a little bit more? i would.
so anyways heres what i wanted to throw in -
who cares who sells more trucks volkswagon sold a million beatles - without changing the design for a million years - why you may ask? cause they were CHEAP!!
the general public wanted a general use vehicle they got one that was economic. i dont have any numbers, but i don't think that the general public would buy a 3/4 ton truck, or tow 9900 lbs. the new f-150 seems to be a aim at the general public. if it SAYS it can tow that much, and still costs less than the 3/4 ton model, it makes sense that MOST people would go for the better deal of more for less.
i think that anyone who knows what trucks are meant to be would buy a 3/4 ton at least, and cut through the crap. these aren't meant to bring your kids to soccer practice!
keep in mind that i say MOST people in not reference to most of the people that post here. i say it in reference to most of our mothers and sisters who like a "reliable vehicle" to get them to work in the mornings, and the store in the evenings.
and the other thing -
LOOKS???
are you a bunch of chicks here? who likes a stock truck anyways? the way i see it, it is more about the aftermarket, although a good stock truck can go a long way. so in the aftermarket, i think that jeep has us all beat. so anyways, if you don't like the look of you truck, change it!!
I think dodge has done a pretty good job of getting to the general public with pushing the HEMI name and its "power" along with the "Hi Definition sound system" and the 20" rims. Sorry to say it but all those are looked upon by the mechanical morons of the world to be the "in" thing. The new 04 fords are quickly catching up though i think as far as public appeal.
hey budly,
belive it or not, but someone who isn't a mechnical moron wouldn't think 20" rims are just an "in thing". we all know that there are mainly two reasons for getting a large rim size:
1. to accomidate larger brakes (p.s. these help when towing )
2. less sidewall = less tire flex = better control in a performance situatuation.
with that in mind, a preformance-oriented, non-mechanical moron would think highly of the 20 inch rims.
of corse, in an offroad situation more sidewall is desired, and this is why people talk about how to swap their 16" down to 15" without clearence issues.
it's not about looks, but they are there. also, the rims you can see right through are designed to be light - less material=lighter. also people like to show off their bremo brakes.
