Question Thorley Headers

Been waiting to hear something from the guy that ordered from Summit Racing. I can't remember his name. They were supposed to come in the end of Feb.

Hello, who ever you are. What's going on?

Hope you're not going through what I have. I've ordered from summit before. They always say it's 2 weeks out. Then again 2 weeks out until it's been 3 monthes.

I bought many items over the past 10 years from Summit and always had very fast service. They are usually my first "stop" when I'm shopping for parts online. Not sure what the holdup would be with Doug Thorley headers but it's possible that demand for them is putting them behind on deliveries. I once bought a set of headers that were for my K5 and wouldn't work with a manual transmission. Called Summit up and they took them back with no questions asked. I find their prices, service and packaging good and will continue to shop with them.

99 sd v10,
You are correct, Sir. I am getting the run around. When I ordered the headers (Feb. 3rd), Summit told me they were out of stock; they would not be in until Feb. 28th. Well it is the 23rd day of March and still no headers. I have been in contact with Summit several times and they claim that Thorley has still not completed these headers. The last conversation I had, the headers were at the ceramic coaters. This was last Thursday. Summit will now pay for overnight shipping. I expect the headers to be delivered any day. To say that I am alittle aggravated is sugarcoating it. If the headers are not delivered by Friday, 3/26, I am cancelling my order. This is a load of crap.

It stinks when things go like that.

I understand sometimes things take awhile to come in on order. I own a business and special order often. I tell people up front how long it'll take. If they don't like what I tell them, then it's less grief than hearing it after they're ****ed at me for lying.

I do like Summit still. Just only when it is in stock.

This A.M., I was a bit P.O.'d about my situation. After some reflection; I can not lay all of the blame on Summit. They have tried to appease me by offering free overnight shipping direct from Thorley. I just wish that Summit would light a fire under Thorleys ***. I can not believe that it takes 7 weeks to produce a set of headers. Also, I don't believe that these particular headers are in high demand. I believe it may be the opposite; other types of headers have a higher priority, while mine are shoved to the back burner.
I talked with Summit again this afternoon, while I was holding, the rep contacted Thorley. The headers are supposed to ship Thursday. I am not holding my breath.

I agree about Summit. I enjoy getting most of my performance parts from them, but one time I ordered some clear taillights (insert ricer joke here) for my friend's cavalier for Christmas, and they didn't send get them until late March. That, too, was a promise that it would only take a week or too. When parts are in stock at Summit, they're unbeatable, but they seem unwilling to put some pressure on the other company's that are dragging butt.

What's Summit's part number for these headers? I checked the Doug Thorley site, and they are listed, but I cant seem to find them on Summit's website. Also, is this a header/Y-pipe kit, or just headers only?

I ordered a set of Ford Racing roller rockers for a 351W last week from Jegs. They said out of stock it would be 2 weeks. They showed up 6 day later. I have allways had good luck with Jegs.

Jeg's is awful. It took them over 2 weeks to get me an exhaust tip that they had in stock. With Summit, I can get stuff within 2 days--normally the next day.

Pictures and results of coarse.

Wish I lived near you, so I could be there during the install. Helping out and checking them out.
