Yes, I had it installed on Wednesday of this week. I had the local Meineke muffler shop do it for 100 bucks. It sounds deeper, but it's still kinda tame. I was hoping it would be louder, but after all of the research that I did over the past month or so, I kinda knew what to expect. I'll probably keep the kits' SUV 50 series muffler on it for another week or so, but I'm sure I'm gonna change it and maybe try the delta flow 40 series muffler on it. Part #9530462. It's 4 inches shorter than the kit's muffler, and it's a little louder, but supposedly not too loud in cab interior. Since I still have all of the cats on my pickup, I'm tempted to get a regular 40 series muffler, #430402, to really up the sound level. The only thing that's turning me off from doing that, is it might sound too loud in the interior. If you can find a muffler shop to bend up new dual tailpipes for cheap, I'd skip the #17222 kit, and get either a regular, or maybe a delta flow 40 series muffler.
Just my .02.
They fit alright around the spare. It's tight, but they fit. I have the Off Road Supercrew with 17" wheels too. I might be grasping at straws, but today it sounded a little more louder for some reason. There must be a break in period.
Call me crazy, but for some reason every time I have put on a new Flowmaster one of my vehicles they seem to get louder after about a month or two???????
You are not crazy.....the system I put on my dads truck in March is way louder now. When we first fired it up we were dissapointed. But is louder and more pronounced now.
I'm glad to hear that boxcar1974, maybe I'll leave the muffler alone and save a little money. On the downside, it sounds like your dad's gonna have major problems when it comes time for inspection. There's a lot of important problems that our legislators need to address, rather than worry about passing laws for loud exhaust.
