i have a 68 f100 360 3sp. i have a slight to mild vibration at about 800 to 1500 rpm quessing, i have tried everthing as far as tunning everthing in specs timming at 8 dwell at 28 vacume at 22 and idle at 625 starts and runs like a new one, but this vibration is really got me flusterd. it does it in nuetral, or in gear, clutch in or out sitting still, or going down the road. its deffently in the motor. all stock original 100k. is it the balancer or is it just how these motors are. it is not a bad vibration i am very picky. i just wanted to ask the experts. if you watch the balancer will running it has no movement what so ever, looks very true. and if i should try the balancer what balancers work? thanks ...
Could possibly be flywheel or I would bet most likely to be a poor quality pressure plate. I'd also do a compression test on the motor to determine if you have a leaky/burnt valve. Uneven compression will cause a rough idle.
As to the vibration...you might want to check the motor mounts. If one is not totally torqued to proper spec's or broken that could cause the vibration. I have seen it before. These engines do have a lot of torque...and it can happen.
