Unhappy 1997 Ranger ECM P0153 & P1151

I have a 1997 Ford Ranger auto trans with 4.0 L engine. Check engine light comes on, read codes here is what I have. Code P0152 O2 sensor number two slow response. P1151 Lean ratio.
I have replaced all 3 O2 sensors and idle motor.

Any ideas what to check. Truck idles rough when it gets around 0 outside also. Idle surges.

First, welcome to FTE!!!!!

Two things come to mind for you to try:

1) Did you reset your PCM after changing the 02 sensors and IAC valve? This is done by disconnecting the negative battery terminal, and turning your headlight switch on for 10-15 minutes.

2) Check to see if your lower intake is loose. Some of the 4.0Ls are known for the lower intake to get loose, which creates a vacuum leak.....

I had the garage reset and clear all the codes out of the ecm.
Also did the battery disconnect with lights. All good with that, confused with the lower intake, the hose from the air filter to the mass air flow sensor or the plastic housing that holds the MAS ??
Unit bolts to top of engins, sorry for all the questions. Guess I really do not know what you mean by lower intake.

Thanks

The "lower intake" is the intake manifold that bolts to the heads.

That poster hasn’t been here since 2004, so I doubt he answers. Possibly, though not likely.

I would take care of that P1151 first. That is usually a bad intake leak of some sort. If you posted in the proper subforum in the other site you posted at, you’ll likely need an intake manifold gasket and isolator bolts for your engine. Once that is dealt with, that P0153 may solve itself.

Changing a good sensor like you likely did won’t fix that issue.

im having both codes p0153 and p1511 both codes are related to upstream bank 2 sensor, engine will run great in the morning for long period of the time until i turn it off and once i restart it this codes pops up, then truck starts to missfire.

Is your exhaust system stock and in good shape? Slow response means that the result of a change in the air-fuel ratio by the PCM is not being detected quickly at the sensor. The PCM basically switches it from lean to to rich to lean over and over. Exhaust leaks can affect the flow around the sensor elements.

And what kind of O2 sensor did you use? Apparently you can get poor quality, even though new. Considering how long they last it's best to spend the money on high quality brands.

I have shorty headers on whit rear muffler delete, on this bank exhaust manifold doesnt have any leaks, i have used bosch 15717 which shoud be oem sensor, i will have a look at the wiring for heating system of that sensor the last job that i did on that truck was replacing valve cover maybe i have damaged the wiring because wires go around it im just quite bad at electronics, so they are 4 wires on sensor itself on the sensor 2 whites(heater),black(ground) and grey(voltage)??

So if im right i need to measure voltage between grey and black wires?
And amps between white ones?

By looking at the picture i understand that 2 wires shown on schematics go directly into the pcm on the firewall, what about that two bottom wires?
