I think thats a really smart move on your part. Damn, here I thought you were just fantasizing all this time and now it seems like you have a really cool build on your hands. Right on!
i actually got it for $100, but the trailer to rent was 35, and gas....it added up to about 150 in the end. it runs although the gas is now terpentine, and is brown....i ran some Plus gas in it for 10 min as it stopped smoking and everything, the carb is shot though, but it does run and drive haha. im going to pull everything off it as soon as i get back to college. its getting a coat of roll-on bed liner (please recommend a brand that is good) and im just going to throw away the top and doors. they are trash too. the tub is beat up but there is no rust in it anywhere. ill just try and make it look nice as i can without investing a lot of money in it. im going to sell my tires (345 MTRs because they are a 15" wheel and they wont work for the 1 ton axles. im thinking about 38" bajas or tsl for it. it doesnt have a title riight now so it will be a trailer queen fora while after the build. its got a boxed frame which is tight!! also, i dont know if any of you know, but how much does a 460 weight? its going under the hood and i need to know what kind of springs i should use. i was thinking rear F150 springs would do alright up front, and then F`50 springs in the rear, only in the rear i would set it up much like ford has the f150 set up now....with the reverse shackel set up, that way the front would squat down some and the rear would sit level, but still flex like a bitch. i dont know though, it all depends on how much the front would weigh with a 460 in it, and how much the rear already weighs..........ok, im done.
just found out that the ford i was going to buy just got sold for 175......im ****ing ****ed.....i now am not going to be able to afford this build at all. i wanna go crawl under a rock......****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the scout i bought, the F350 i was going to buy today really. mark, the guy who was going to get it for me went to talk to the guy and he was 12 minutes late. it had everything i needed, the 460/tranny/xcase/ DANA 60S!!!!
i now have a scout and a 435 and a 205....thats all
i am now thinking about just taking dodge 1500 axles...i can get a good deal on them im sure. its just i dont want to have to fix the damned thing after every run.....39.5 tires is what i was thinking. and i dont think the D44 will handle anything near that. i broke with 35s just the other day.
chebby axles are dime a dozen, and so are dodge really, why is it that ford axles are so expensive?
one of my my new plans is a 350/sm-whatever it is...chebbys version of the t-18 really/stock D20 xcase...its beef/ and hopfully find a cheap D60 pass side drop.
or
BBF/435/205/GM 2.5 ton axles.(driver drop)
i can get the axles for cheap enough really....like 200$ (crossing my fingers). its just that damned engine now...haha, ill keep the 266 V8 thats in it. or i can buy that who damned GM 2.5 ton truck and get axles, tranny, and xcase, and then all i would need is an engine....but whatever.....now its all about where i can get some cash$$.......but im always thinking....it will start some how in the next month or so!!!! that i promise
