How many of you were Boy Scouts?
Well, I'm 17, I'm a Life Scout, and I'm getting ready to have my Eagle Scout Board of Review on Monday night. After the review, I'll be officially certified as an Eagle Scout. I wanted to know how many of you were/are in the Boy Scouts, what rank you made it to, and what you thought of Boy Scouts from your experience while a member. I think that it was worth my effort. I've been a member since September 1996, so that's just about 7 years. Some of it was tough, and some was easy. I've been told that once you become an Eagle Scout, you're always an Eagle Scout; never I "was" an Eagle Scout.

Here is an old thread from 15 months ago ,that some of us replied to.
FTE & Scouting
I don't think I have the energy now, to write mine again.

Congratulations on your achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. This is something to be proud of for the rest of your life. I was unable to be in scouting when I was young due to economic considerations but I always wanted to be involved. My youngest son is working on his Eagle at this time and will make it sometime next year. I note that, from another post in another thread, you have a patriotic heart and you will find that life will be better for you because of your values. Stand tall and be proud, you deserve it.

Well I was a boy scout, couldn't stand the political stuff that would not let us carry bear spray in grizzly bear country during the spring bear mating season. I carried a .44 because well I don't want to be eaten or have pepper spray seasoning on me. The hike was awesome and we never saw a bear and nobody knew. I still thought it was BS so I still help out trying to get them to go on more campouts and weekend adventures. I think todays scouts are in extreme danger of being hardcore democrats and I can't ever be a part of that. Sorry I am happy for your achievement and applaud your tenacity for sticking with the program, congratulations.

im 17 and life, but wont make it to eagle because of time, im turning 18 too soon... i had 54 merit badges, and a philmont patch, which isnt easy to come by... so im far from lazy, just didnt have the time i needed to do my project.

By the way, I'll let y'all know how the Board of Review goes tomorrow night. Thank you for all the well-wishes, so to speak.
Mattsbox--don't worry about me or anybody from my troop turning liberal. My scoutmasters are very conservative, like myself. It is the liberals who are attacking Scouting for having morals such as banning the fruitcakes from joining. Do you know what the United Way is doing to Scouting? Since fruitcakes are banned in Scouting, the United Way has pulled all of their funding to Scouting. The only way we can get anything from them is if the checks are denoted as Boy Scouts, and even then they deduct an "administrative fee" before they send any money to the councils.
So everybody, please DO NOT GIVE ANYTHING TO THE UNITED WAY.

Congrats on your eagle !
I got mine right I mean RIGHT before I turned 18 !
I learned a lot in scouts - After my eagle I went on to venture scouts and did that for a while but I am sorry to say that school work and girls took up most of my time .
My 2 other firends recived their eagles also .
The 3 of us grew up together and STILL go camping .
You meet life long friends !
I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I did !
