Quick questions about a D60

ok, i just bought that scout for 150. im going to get it tomorrow. i also have a chance to buy a 90 F350 4wd with a 460 in it for 400$. i am going for that too. now i know this is a ford forum, but more you guys know your stuff. does anyone know the frame rail width on a scout 800. also. is it possible to move....ummm, remove and relocate, the spring pearches inward on the D60 so that they line up with the frame rails in this scout. i assume the pumpkin will not be in the way, ans if it is i can do some grinding and make my own peaches so that it fits.

REMINDER!! this will NOT see road use for the most part. it doesnt even have a title at the moment.....and i dont see it haveing one any time in the near future.

please post up any info or links that may help me with this. i may be switching out some springs so that it will handle the 460/435/205 combo im putting in it. if you have any suggestions on some cheap springs that may work well with this please post up.

thanks,
Idiomaticman

I don't think it's possible to set the perches inward on the axle itself, but it is quite simple to extend the shackles outward from the frame. If you want pix of how this can be done let me know and I'll try and take a few tonight.

yes i agree, it would be MUCH easier to fab some mounts that extend out past the frame...look at pro's gallery, he moved his out with his hangers

to move the perches in on a hp 60 you will have to make a longer driverside tube to move the pumpkin/perch in, and shorten the passenger tube/ weld on a new perch. this is a major pita since you have to remove the c's and pull out one of the tubes from the centersection

i have some buddys that do this, its not too bad as long as your decent with Fabbing, you grind off the leaf perch on the Pass side Cut and shorten the Pass side tube to the length you need, then you re weld the Nuckle arm and spring back onto the axle.

yea then youve also narrowed the axle too, if you wanna keep it fullwidth your gonna have to put a longer tube on the driverside

That's just what I was thinking...It's gonna be difficult to use the full-size 60 with leafs, unless he decides to make the front a 4-link (which is what I plan to do on my next Bronco rehab) with coils/coilovers. But I would be interested to hear his plans...

Uh, look what I did in my gallery like Ho suggested, but weld your hangers on the inside of the mounts instead of the outside...its that easy twinkletoes

hahaha, that easy....ya well, i met a dude whos got everything you could ever imagine for tools, welder, plaama cutter...etc.....great guy too. i think i will just match up the fram to the axles...saves a lot of hassel.

i picked it up today....i have a 435 and 205 for it too!!. all i need are the axles and a decent engine and im almost ready for the build up.....i think it will take most of next term working in my of time and on weekends. im going to use s10 or dakota spring all the way around and a extended shackel. i think this could be cool. ill post pics when i start next week.
