my trucks got nothin special for suspension lift but i baught it with a 4" lift i think.. from wut it looks like anyways.. its a BDS package... and i got 35" tires.. road tires.. both front wheels tilt in the fender well at the top of the tires.. is this suspension sag? worn out ball joints?? doesn't look good at all.. also i do have a big block.. maybe the suspension lift put in wasnt for a big block and therefor the front end is saging?? the truck does sit a bit lower up front.. but hey let me no wut u guys think and if u have had this problem before? thanx
Well first off what front end is under you truck solid axle or ttb I seem to remember that the 250hd could be either, but if I would definatly check your ball joints, and if ttb check the center pivot bushings these really don't wear good, and if were not replaced with good ones when the lift was installed then I would almost put money on that bieng your problem. Next if the frontend is sagging this isn't going to help either
The '97 F250HD came originally with the ttb (I think the Dana60 was only available on the F350, but I've been wrong before) so I would personally take it to an alignment shop like Jason said and get the camber kit. Or do like myself and get the solid front axle and then don't worry about it.

hehehe, i just made steel blocks and put them under the springs.....grabbed about 2" of lift and leveled it right out. hehehe...oh ya...it cost 30$$ too. talk about a cheap lift!!

That would be true if his truck had ubolts on the front end, but Idio list his as a f150 which would be a coil spring setup, and putting the blocks under the springs is about the same as using the lower coil buckets from a 2wd which are higher, and since the radius arms keep the axle from twisting not the springs it should be ok although it isn't the absolute recommended I don't see aproblem in this case
thanks monster, and yes, fitter, blocks under a leaf sprung front suspension is dangerous. blocks on any sort anywhere under a leaf sprung suspension is dangerous.
Originally posted by fitter565 Sorry guy's, I spend most of my time in the SD forum and was thinking leaf springs.. I think I best go back there and keep quiet..lol

nah you don't have to keep quite, infact the originator of this thread was a was a leaf sprung suspenion infact I had to look twice, maybe I should spend some time in the SD forum since I have one them too.
Sounds like you need a front end alignment (unless it's a straight axle). 250hd had the straight axle option. It'll handle good offroad but your tires are gonna wear fast and the truck will dart when turning(wether you wanna or not) on the street. A little camber is good but too much is noticeable.
k thanx guys.. im gona get the alignment done.. but first i found another problem...... my drivers side front leaf shackle looks like its bent.. so i went out and baught a new one.. new bushing.. put it in last week.. as soon as i took the old one out.. the sring pulled directly towards the tire about 3 inchs away from where it goes in the shackle.. so i pist around trying to pull it back in while i lower the truck back on the leaf.. didn't work... i ended up loosen off all the bolts for the leaf spring u joints.. barly got it in there after doing that.. then lower the truck back on the ground.. perfect.. no more bent shackle.. so tightend up the u joint bolts again.. then went for a hard ride.. came back looked at it.. and again its tilting in towards the motor.. looks like its bent.. but its just twisting the ***** outa the bushings to look like its bent.. o ya not to mention after gettin the old shackle out.. i compared the 2.. and the old one wasnt even bent.. but the bushing was shot.. so i put the new one in either way.. but y would it have so much pressure on it now to push it again towards the motor....think i better get this fixed before the alignment
You said it came with a 4" lift. If the springs start getting worn out and soft, won't that also let the tires start to come in on the top? Same thing with a half ton of the same geteration. If the coil spring can no longer support the weight of the vehicle on the axle, it'll let the tires pivot inward.
I'd think a way to tell if the springs are shot would be to jack up the truck via the frame or bumper, and if the tires start to level out the higher you go, that may be an indication that the springs are going south.
Not that south is a BAD place to go...
