I would like to learn to weld and it seems to be a dieing art in SoCal so if anyone has ideas on a welding class or somewhere i can learn to weld, in a quality maner, i am open to anything. I am located in Orange County so it needs to be local.
It would be great to take a class if you could. I never did. I started checking out books on welding. I bought a typical ac arc welder and started to practice. I then soon realized that cutting metal with a hacksaw was no fun so I bought an oxy/act torch set and tanks.
Later on I bought a mig welder, go 220 volt if you get one. I then converted my arc welder into a tig machine. I bought a bandsaw or two along the way. I have a spot welder project I need to finish. I was doing some welding today. I wouldn't be without it. You can do alot of fun stuff.
Check out a community college. I got to weld today to- but that's my job. I first learned from my great-grandfather, but had a nice 8-week course at work.
I was going to sign up at the local vo-tech for the welding course they were offering last month but my schedule didn't allow it. It cost $160, which I thought was high.
