1990 F-150 302 V-8 idling at 2200 RPM and won't kick down.
New EGR VALVE and Idle Air Control Valve.
KOEO CODE 11 - System Pass - both current code and memory code.
KOER CODE 12 - Cannot control RPM during high RPM test.
Does any of the Emmission controls affect this,i.e., TAB, TAD, EGR EVR solenoids, Air Control Valve or Bypass Valve or Smog pump if they are not working??
Has anybody out there ever had this problem?? I hope someone can help.
Most IACs have to be adjusted when you install a new one. You didn't mention if the problem happened right after the change or not or if you adjusted the IAC. The EGR/EVP won't really affect idle. EGR is only active under moderate load not idle or WOT. My guess is the IAC needs adjustment, if you haven't already.
This all started all of a sudden. Truck was functioning fine. Made a trip to the store and the next time I restarted the truck it went straight to 2200 RPM'S. Replaced the IAC in an attempt to correct high idle problem, because of the inability to get idle to kick down.
Should there be a WOT sensor on this model, I haven't researched that, and how do you adjust the IAC??
I am unaware of any adjustment to the IAC. Check for vacuum leaks. The joint between the upper and lower intake manifolds and between the throttle body and the upper manifold are good places to start looking.
Sounds like an intake leak to me also, computer is adding gas to the extra air resulting in the high idle. Had the same problem with my 96 Dodge Intrepid ES, turned out it was the intake manifold gasket. Not expensive just time consuming.
Thanks for the feedback. If anyone else has ever encountered something like this I would like to hear. Intake leak sounds feasible. I have checked about everything else except the ECA (ECM) and don't know if that can be checked??? I am reading about PCM ( POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE). Does this model have both?? ECM AND PCM or just one or the other??
how do you adjust the iac valve, i had to replace one on my truck along with a tps and an o2 sensor, ran great for about two days then the idle started to climb again
