Ok, truck shifts like crap (nuetrals out when in overdrive if floored and won't hold in second or third without getting on and off the throttle, but not too much on it, to keep it in second or third gear). This is a 96 4x4 f150, e4od, 351w. There are no other codes than the p0755, and the code comes up without driving the truck after clearing the code out with a scanner. Code won't come on with just a key on after the clearing either. But as soon as its started and given 30 seconds or less of run time, the code shows up. This same code comes up when the plug going into the shift solenoid assembly is disconnected, along with a p0743 I guess because of the plug. I can't find any obvious wires that are bad, and would have to rip up all the sheething to look. Could it be something else? Its not the vss senser or the range sensor as both have been replaced and the abs works great, and the speedo works great.
That code apperars if computer find some electrical problem in selenoid block BUT it also appears if there are problems relative to poor connections and/or wiring harnes short circuits.
First at all have a look at tranny connectors looking for water, mud or corrosion inside, includ VSS sensor also.
Then have a look at wiring harnes for short ciscuits between wires and wires to ground.
Finally perform a selenoid test, maybe it needs to be replaced...
How do you test the solenoid pack? I have cleaned the connectors, all of them. The only one i didn't touch is a plug that goes into the transfer case, which does have mud around it. There is a new solenoid pack in the tranny right now, and when plugged into that or the other solenoid pack that used to be in it, the same thing happens. THe plug was cleaned out with an allen wrench the same as the other ones to get all corrosion out of the inside of the plugs. The VSS sensor is working fine now, as my abs now works and my speedometer is working good too. The range sensor is new and the plug for that was cleaned also. Any other ideas? Thanks for the reply, took a week of posting to get any feedback from this stie......is there anywhere else with people with more technical skills than here for f150's?
