I was told by my trucks po that the damage to the front fender was from a deer. I almost hit an elk in Flagstaff (they are a problem up there, but not something to sue over), and I hit a parrot in FL. That was the funniest thing I ever saw. It hit the middle of my windshield, and dropped to the ground right behind me. Also right behind me was an IROC with the full ground effects- there was quite the explosion of green feathers.

Consumer Reports (if I recall correctly) did a study on deer whistles a year or two ago. A high percentage of them emitted no sound at all, and when one did produce the sound, it had no noticeable effect on deer. A friend of mine dug one of his out of a deer carcass adorning his bumper, and tried to get a refund from Wally World - they didn't go for it.
I think all those deer whistles do is make the deer run in circles and go balistic right in front of you. After seeing that durango, it makes me glad i drive an old FORD pickup.
wow a suicidal deer. whatever happened to the driver or passengers in the durango. I saw no blood, that is a good thing
I have about 5 more pics of the event. A couple of them show a guy that I conclude was the driver. He is standing next to the open drivers door in one of the pics (straight faced). Other than what looks like a bad cut on his forehead starting from his eye and running up to his hairline, he looks fine. Another pic has a cop standing by the drivers door holding the deer's antler. None of the pics have any ambulances or EMT's.

Deer in Kansas have become huge hazards while driving at night. My younger brother crested a hill and blew through a herd of them at 70mph. Hit at least three of them head on and three or four ran into the the side of the truck, looked like a slaughter house dumped its extras on the road. Three of the deer where dead and two more where found in a draw a couple hundred yards away. I've hit two in two differant vehicles, usually its about a $1000 a pop when you hit one.
I think I've hit about 8-9 of the stupid things, all of them popped right out of the tall ditch grass.
I had one run into my parked ranger 2 years ago, tried to jump into the passenger window, and manged to hit every quarter panel on that side upon collision... that cost 1500 bucks.
The only time I havent had to pay was when I was driving my dads 71' LTD, and smoked a deer at 65mph, not a single dent or scratch.
When I went to pull it off the road, I ended up pulling it off in 4 - 5 pieces.
i have hit 12 in my semi, i hate hitting them with my semi, i hve so much fiberglass up front to make it light that everytime i hit a deer i almost need an entire front clip. i hit one at 75 mph with my old buick, all i broke was the plastic headlight bezel. killed the deer. anit hit one in my pickup yet. got a pushbumper on there just in case, hate to ruin my grill.
saw a 99 perterbilt hit a moose at 65 mph, turned his extended hood into a cabover
