I've got a couple cars that I like to take off the road for the winter, so as we say here in the Northeast, I need a winter-beater. Bought a '95 Saturn SL1 from a customer of mine, just to drive through the winter. Now, it gets great gas mileage (35-40), and I haven't had to put a penny into it (so far). BUT- this has got to be the absolute WORST car I have ever owned! Noisy, rough-running, cramped, poorly-designed.
When you consider that you have to pay full sticker for ANY Saturn, I have to ask the question: WHY would anybody buy one of these things brand-new? Are people really that afraid to walk into any other showroom because they might have to negotiate- even just a little? There are so many good little cars on the market today (Protege, Corolla, Civic, Focus, etc...) that can be bought for the same or LESS than a Saturn when you factor in discounts and rebates.
They make good little used cars if all you care about is basic transportation, but like I said, why anyone would buy a new one is beyond me.
nope, seems like a vw....good throw away car , used of course.......but i did see one thru my telescope, it had rings....must of been a optional paint job....:-)

At least you didn't stoop to the usual Uranus jokes, and I thank you for that.
My Saturn runs great, but I don't really like it that much, either. You know what I hate the most? Try turning your Saturn around on a regular residential street. I would bet lots of dollars you cant do it in one turn. The turn radius SUCKS. And the engine is noisy, also. Oh, and don't forget the oil filter placement: I have dislocated my shoulder twice changing my oil. I will give it this much though: I have driven it and another Saturn over Loveland Pass in blinding snow many many times, and they did awesome.
The new Saturn L series are pretty nice, but for the price, I'd buy a Taurus, a Camry or an Accord. But I won't buy another Saturn.
