You bought a Super Duty my friend - the 150 cannot come close to what your truck can do! The newest 4-wheeler magazine says to avoid the F-150 if you plan on towing. So if you have a boat, trailer, etc, etc - your geared to go!!!

Also - Some slight modifications will make your new rig more powerful. Do some reading on these boards and you will get a ton of ideas. Cabelas has some great prices on parts also. www.cabelas.com - You can also order their print catalogs there.

Add a Big Block Flowmaster and you will see a big difference. Also have the mechanic create a straight pipe on the passenger side. Ford has it twisted and choked off - run it straight and you will really feel some power. Dont forget this isnt a race truck. It weighs in around 6,500 pounds - Load it up with 6 adults and your getting close to 7,000 pounds -

Truckman...do you have the 70 series big block II muffler or the 50 series big block muffler. And how does it sound?

70 Series Big Block II - It sounds smooth and natural. The fella installing it convinced me that once I started towing I would appreciate the sound. And he was right. Once you start towing up the mountains the louder Flowmasters are annoying.

Dont forget the pipe problem I talked about in my earlier post. Crawl underneath your truck and look at your pipe arrangement. On my 99 the right (passenger side) pipe twists all around. Cut that section off and run a straight pipe down to create more of a Y shape. The technician explained that twisting chokes off the flow and therefore you lose horsepower. He is our resident expert in these systems - so I trusted him to be tellilng me the truth - he only charged me 50 to remove the twisted section and resolder the new pipe design. Everything else I have on the system is still stock.

Thats a thought but you might have problems with the firewall. Would be better to do with the V10, now that would be a kick butt truck, Ranger with a V10, would have to buy new rear tires at least once a week.

Crazy thinking but I like it. I just dont think the body and frame could hold it. Drop that V10 into a F150 and you might be ok.

Hey a V10 or a PSD in a ranger, It could be done. No one said it had to be mounted in the front..

truckman, thanks for your help. I've already checked out the sites you sent me. I never knew you could modify a motor my changing or tuning up the chips in your motors computer. I feel better now. I've been away a long time and I mean a long time from owning a vehicle where I really cared about what I could do with it and what was available to me in order to do that. I've been driving subaru's for the last 20 years and somehow they have just come my way without me having to spend a lot of money so I've just really been away for motor technology. It has changed so much from the days when I owned a 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner with the 383 Magnum. What a car. I still know where it is. I sold it to a person who had the money to take care of it as I had to sell it when I got divorced. Thanks again
