Eric,
welcome to FTE.
Your question has been asked by new comers a zillion times.
The best answer for you, is to browse the 4.2 forum for similar threads. Stick around for a bit and you will learn a great deal about your motor. More than you ever thought you would. In 6 months, you'll be stripping the thing down yourself. There are just so many things that you can do to get more power that it can't be answered in one paragraph. It's simply much to complicated for that.
Start with an aftermarket intake with a gauze filter,
Diablo performance chip
and an aftermarket exhaust
All of which can be purchased by clicking the link above.
These are the basic beginners stuff. Later you'll learn more complex ways of extracting the most power out of your truck, and soon, you'll be beating V8's all over the road.

Joe be nice, or you will get nasty-grams! Forget all that wimpy bolt-on stuff.
Get a supercharger...Vortech, 8-10 psi, fairly easy install. 50-60% gain. IE you have 205 HP at the flywheel, after the successful install, you should see approx. 305 HP at the flywheel then get NOS, a chip, 4.56 gears, lightweight racing rims, V-rated tires, and a lightweight tonneau.
Hehe...simple bolt ons are a good way to get back power lost through the transfer case. Good luck man....check out this thread:
