flexplate alignment

I did searches and could not find an answer to this. In the rebuilding ford v-8 book, it says to mark your flexplate and torque converter alignment before you pull the engine so you can line them back up on re-install. Do these only line up in one way? I was going to put a new flexplate in my new engine, and won't have reference marks to go by. I just want to see if there is some reason to do this when putting the engine and torque converter back together.

The reason usually for proper balance that they mate the way they did before they were removed.

It doesn't matter and the torque converter has nothing to do with balancing. Just be carful you don't fall onto the oil plug holes when your putting it in or you'll be pulling her apart again.

OK, great! I'm glad I won't be screwing anything getting this puppy balanced then.

Man, I love this site...

The flex plate and the converter are balanced seperately. I cannot think of a reason to mark them.
