This light seems to go off too soon, when there is still quite a bit of fluid in the resevoir. Any suggestions. Along with my Service Engine Soon light, my instrument panel is starting to resemble a Christmas display!!
Hmmm...didn't even know it had one of these...mine's never gone on (but I'm a bit AR about fluid levels). If yours is being oversensitive, I'd venture a guess that the little float controlling the light is sticking a bit, and not properly moving with fluid levels. I'd get the fluid level really low, and pull the sensor and examine it.
It's a fairly common problem. I've never heard of a cure, although FarmLaw's theory is as good as any. For years the float in my washer was stuck in the highest position, and the light never went on. It bugged me that something wasn't working on the vehicle, so I pulled the tank, flushed the float assembly out and now the light's working. And working...and working...
And I thought it was just me....on my 03 it will go off when the resorvoir is less than half full....Scared the heck outta me when I was stopping for a toll plaza and the thing went off for the first time...A nice little yellow light and a chime that lets ya know something is wrong....Then you hit the gas it goes away....Hit the brakes again and "Chime chime" until you get it low enough for it to just stay on...
Mine does the same thing.....1999
Seems to be half empty when the light goes on, yet it still drinks the better part of a gallon when it gets refilled.
The wife's EXPY is over sensative as well. The 1st time it went off and looked in the tank, there was still 1/2 left. I topped it off and the light went out. Then it went on again and looked at the tank and saw a mark on it indicating the add fluid mark. It was just about right on. The way it seems is you could still get another 2 weeks out of it even when the lights on.
Just remember this. It's a "Hey I'm Getting Low" light. Not a "Hey I'm Empty" light. LOL. Of course you wouldnt even need a light to tell you that now would you.
My warning comes on when the fluid is only down 2 inches from full to the top. I had it in to the dealer and they claim there's nothing they can do about it,that's the way the factory sets them. That sure doesn't sound right to me,my 98 Expy's warning light came on when it was an inch away from being empty, not 2 inches from full. It's getting aggrevating
having to constantly hit the reset button or listen to the chimes.
