The X Plan is usually associated with companies that inform Ford and other makers that alot of thier employees want to purchase a new vechicle. The company I work for has this such agreement with Ford and believe me with the prices on Ford's these days, you need any break you can get! X Plan does not work with Used cars, only New. It is basically a set price above posted invoice price of the vehicle. The more luxurious the vehicle, the more the markup, the more you save. For example, when I worked for Skyline Ford in 1998, a 99-2000 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer had about a 5000 mark up. So you see how you can save on the X Plan. You wont get much for basic models, because those are just there for the dealership to bait and switch on you. There is a way around the X Plan. Purchase your vehicle thru a Credit Union, for example, Texan's. Credit Union Car purchases demand that the amount you are purchasing is what the car is worth. You will more than likely pay 100 to 300 dollars over invoice price. If this is still not possible...then when you go to the dealership, verbally and mentally beat the salesman up. Keep attempting to knock him down on the price. And go at the end of the month, this is when a dealership needs to get rid of inventory. Be sure you have the credit to back your price demands, otherwise the salesman is going to laugh at you and walk out of the office. I could go on and on about buying a car and what some people did to me when I was a Ford Salesman. I hope this information helps.
Experimental Aircraft Association. Unless you are planning on signing up for a lifetime membership, you'll have to be a member for 1 year before you can get a PIN for the xplan.
Personally, I use the xplan because I hate the whole car sales process... I walk in, tell the sales manager what I want and use the xplan price.
My current truck was priced at 43k retail, 41k was "the best we can do for you" and the xplan price was 38,950 pretty @#$% big spread if you ask me.
There are over 10,000 companies that are eligible for X-Plan. Talk to your Human Resources Dept.
EAA is one group but there are others. Ford shareholders are also sometimes eligible for X-Plan. In addition, Ford Employess can sponsor X-Plan to their relatives.
The X-Plan price is 4% above the A-Plan (Ford Employee) price plus $150. This usually works out to about 1% BELOW invoice.
Not all Ford dealers will accept X-Plan pricing. Not all vehicles are eligible for X-Plan prices (T-Bird, SVT's sometimes, other limited edition vehicles).
I flew when I was younger, A WWII trans-atlantic supply pilot, Frank Light, was teaching me to fly, right up until he died of bone cancer in 1985. Anyway, in the latter parts of the war, he was "promoted" to flying supply in low level bombers. He said out of hundreds of flights, not one could he remember that they didn't at least take a bullet from a pot shooter somewhere. He was shot down 5 times, once by friendly fire and had thousands upon thousands of flight hours.
After he died, I lost immediate access to a plane and instruction, I always intended to do more.
However, while in college I contracted a rather nasty virus from some foriegn students, while it didn't kill me... I had vertigo for several months straight... it was awful. When it was all over my inner ear was basically toasted. I have very little sense of balance left and find I can easily be disoriented. It makes 3D navigation requirements tough, and riding a motorcycle is out too.
Turns out though, I have a real nack for ship navigation. I can easily ride through rough seas, get tossed about and not get disoriented much at all. I can be standing on a 30 degree list and everything feels normal to me, I don't start turning out of the heel. I can also ride a roller coaster straight faced... it's actually boring now.
Come to think of it.....don't you think it would be a good idea that FTE members should be eligible for the X plan?? Come on, what could be better, Ford lovers buying more Ford cars and trucks. If brought to the attention of Ford, I actually think they might go for it. What do you say FTE moderators?
I wish Ford would allow certain sites like FTE to offer this, but I don't see it happening. In the "I'm gonna sue you" world we live in, I think they would have to offer it to any site dealing with Ford brand cars and trucks, which would practically mean worldwide you could get this x-plan deal. Second, Ford employees get to use the X-plan four times per calender year (Jan.1-Dec.31). It's called "friends and family". I have used this once this year, so-that means I have three left and remember FTE members are my "friends and family".
