which intake
I own a 02 powerstoke with the superchip 1705 tuner 4 inch straight piped exaust and want a intake for more power and lower egt's. I have been looking around and so far have read alot about the afe II or the mac intake the afe says 50 hp and 119 ft/lbs of tourque is this true or a selling gimmick. Any info on any intakes would be appreciated.

Horsepower gains like that are a gimmick. What an intake will do for you is gain slightly more power, perhaps 5-10hp. The main thing they do, is to make the other systems in the truck work better.
If I were to believe all the horsepower gains from manufacturers, and add up all the things I've done to my truck, I'd have about 500hp. Sounds good, but it ain't true. It's similar to the people making products that are supposed to improve mpg. They're always grossly overstated.

I figured it was a gimmick. Do you guys know if it will lower egts. Also the small amount of power will it be noticible. Or would just putting a better flowing filter do the same thing. Thanks for the replies

If you were to put on a better flowing intake, you wouldn't feel it as much as hear it. Once the intake is opened up, you'd be able to hear the turbo much better. The amount of hp from an intake is really minimal in itself, but it helps you get more from the other power mods you do. Think of it as laying the foundation.
The TYMAR will lower EGT's a little, but not as much as a downpipe would.

Quadzilla, I keep my cat on the floor board of the truck under the accelerator pedal. When I step on the pedal, the cat sounds just like the turbo. Got to love that! By the way, I am here in Washington with you. Lots of nice trucks around this part (and I know others as well) of the country.
