I am also interested in a similar swap to get rid of my E4OD. I would be interested in swaping to either the NV4500 or a ZF in my 150. I'll have to check out that kit, any additonal information regarding the feasibility of this conversion would help.
I got the prices for the adapters for the bell housing and transfer case, cross member. Basically everything needed will be about $2500. I do have to come up with a Ford bell housing to mate from the adapter to the 300/6.
From what I have found, new 5 SPD ZF's are no longer manufactured. Replaced by the six speed that fits the new modular engines. All the reman or "rebuilt" carry a heafty price with a weak warranty. I am leary of ANY rebuild since the word rebuild can vary so much. I have heard that once an aluminum case gets too hot, they warp very slightly and the rebuilds just don't last as long. Anyway the NV4500 is stronger and with the cast iron case pretty tough and the best part is the price. $1800 new with warranty. The ratios sound good, too. Am getting a boat that will weigh about 5000 all loaded. So the mazda M5OD has to go...
I bought a rebuilt ZF for a 95 F-350 2 wheel drive with a 460 from Trans-Tech Performance in New Hampshire for $1200.00 shipping included. Trans-Tech was recommended by several local automatic trans. rebuild shops. Only 90 day warranty and don't have many miles on it but so far so good. Don't know if they offer other trannys also but probly do. Phone 603-899-5410
