Has anyone made the NV4500 swap in a 78 f-150?
Any other suggestions for a better transmission with better gearing for highway than the T-19 i have in it?
400m
I contacted Advanced Adapters and they sent me the list of parts needed to make the swap, I just havent had the funds for the swap. I really want to make sure its right for me before spending the money.
400 can accept the ZF from a 460. Requires a hydraulic clutch though. Someone here did that swap and it's not 100% bolt in due to the pilot or something. I might be able to find that.
Back to your existing rig. A cheaper way to go would be a taller axle ratio. You are not short of low-end torque, and the T19 has what first gear--4.02 or 5.11?
A 3.00 rear gear with a 5:1 T19 actually makes for a useable 1st gear for stoplights/ stop signs. Couple that with a 2.75 and you'll have decent acceleration and a nice highway RPM as well.
