Exclamation Test drive

I test drove a 4x4 Ranger with the 4.0 yesterday and i was woundering if it was normal for the RPM's to get up to 4000 before shifting sometimes. Also i was woundering how they handle in the snow. Thanks.

Speaking with respect to the 4.0L OHV engine (as opposed to the 4.0L SOHC), my answer to your question would have to be NO, it is not normal for the RPM's to reach 4K before shifting.

I don't know for sure about the 3.0L or the 4 banger engines, but my guess for them would be the same.

on my old 90 2.3 topaz, the rpms would get pretty high if you almost floor it.
