I have a 1996 F-150 with 302 motor. I have 115,630 on this motor. I have maintained this truck well. Changed the oil every 3500 miles more or less. I get over 16 to 18 M.P.G. with this truck. The motor runs great. My question is this. How many more miles can I go before something bad might happen to this motor. I know these motors arn't known for their longevity vs the 300I6.
How long have you went before you had to overhaul your motor.
Did your motor start losing power or take oil. How about the timing chain in this engine should I replace it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
293,677 kilometres here ,(180000 miles) on the first truck listed below and towing our travel trailer at 50 mph!No oil burning , bit of lifter chatter at start up , but when warm , still kicks down! Maintenance definitely the key.
Hey Thanks Guys. Looks like I shouldn't have to worry about this truck for awhile. Take care of the maintenance and hopefully it will take care of me. I just hate to get rid of the truck. It gets great mileage. Like I said 16 to 18 m.p.g. consistently. It is the best truck I have ever owned. No problems period. Just regular maintenance. Typical Ford . They go the distance. Hey thanks again.
Another note. This 302 motor I have really generates the power. When I bought this truck and drove home I swore I had a 351 under the hood Nope 302. Impressive!!!
