Originally posted by budthedog A few years back, I went to a drive-up ATM next to my bank. I noticed the buttons were also in braille. THAT'S SCARY!!!!
Actually, that one is not that scary. I have a friend who is blind, and she repeatedly uses the drive up ATM.... Just from the back seat.
(No we are not letting her drive, someone else will have to be the designated driver tonight )
Unfortunately some people believe that driving is a "Right", instead of a "Privilege" granted by the state when you have passed all of the tests deemed necessary for the safe operation of a vehicle.
I used to work with a guy that is legally blind. He had huge coke bottle eyeglasses and could barely see the dishes he was cleaning, but he had a valid drivers license and drove everywhere. It is scary sometimes, I used to dread every time I saw him get in his car and start swerving up the road.
I have a cousin who is 100% deaf, and drives 200 miles from her house at the beach to here every 3 weeks, she hasn't had a wreck that I know of at all.
I had to drive during an execise in the army once wearing a gasmask, I didn't have optical inserts, it was dusk, we were driving into the sunset, I had no periphreal vision and it was a deuce and a half. I was paranoid I would hit something and can't understand how someone can drive blind.
