Ah, the Lovebug season is upon us once again! For those who haven't had the joy of the twice a year lovebug season in Florida, you are missing something indeed. If the remains of these creatures are left on your paint for more than a few days, there is a hole eaten through the clear coat. Any longer and the paint and primer is gone. The smallest particle will eventually give you tiny pits of rust. Some of the older trucks from out in the country look like they were standing directly in front of the fan as the feces was hitting it!
Well, I need a good bug shield for my '02 and wonder if anyone has suggestions. Lund seems to be the most prolific brand on the net. I've had shields on my '90 F-150 that flapped and banged on all the rubber bumper pads I had to install and caused such turbulance on the windshield at cruise speed and altitude that I couldn't use washer fluid. It would blow it down on the hood! It probably affected my mileage, also.
What about the custom molded job by Lund? Expensive, yet seems to follow contour of hood pretty well.
