It's all opinions. Besides, seeing a truck up close vs. pictures can make a world of difference. We're not saying the truck won't be or hasn't been wheeled, but like you said yourself, there's just something about the way it looks.
"It feels like mine doesnt have as much of that "offroad" feel or something like others that i see, even though it is lifted and what not."
ok here it goes......
1-ton drivetrain, 4 link rear, 7.3L PSD, complete tube cage, no bumpers, hack fenders, 40-42" tires, dual t-cases, dual batteries, lose the bed, fuel cell, take off the doors, back up lights and undercarriage lights (you already have headlights), 30 ton PTO winch behind cab, beadlock wheels, and a smiley face on your rear diff cover!
oh, jsut to clear everything up for you dude, no one on here is out to flame you, we dont do that here at FTE its what makes this place unique. i wil agree with the black wheels...i thihnk i said that at the beginning anyway haha, you will NOT! want to go over a 35-37 tire....37 is just asking you to upgrade both axles, and you will go through ball joints like mad. so 6" over all lift, 35-37 MT/Rs....they are all around a good tire for a DD...some lights here and there to light up the trail. no bling...well....you know what i mean.....just play the function over bing game...thats all, you dont need to beat your truck to hell just to prove its capable off road.....still, you need a truck box....thats what makes a mall crawler into a capable 4wheeler right hoxiii???
I don't have a truck box
Different trucks need different accents to set them off, the box does it for you.
But i do get jeep guys coming up to me asking if I offroad (even though the truck is still technically only 4x2). The only thing i can think of that sets me off from any other 4x4 pickup around me are the warn premiums and the (worn out) 31-10.50's it's currently rolling on. Besides that it just looks like any other pickup. (honestly, i can't even remember the last time i saw a set of manual hubs on anything around here besides a SD). I live in the prime example of lilly white suburbia. It sickens me .
I think it also has something to do with the body style. The 78-79's look butch to start with, the 80-86's aren't too bad with a set of 31's, but after 86 and the nose started to curve and the headlights started to wrap around, i just isn't quite the same.
I know about the whole no bigger than 35s on my truck...trust me im not just some dumb newbie to trucks. Just wanted some suggestions. Biggest ill ever go is probably 38s..even than only when i throw some 1 ton axles under it in a few years. There will never be any "bling" on my truck. I hate chrome. The rear bumper probably will be replaced soon as my dad and i are building one out of 6" channel iron as we speak. probably will get rid of the rollbar soon, might already have a buyer.
i used *" channel for mine, i cut a hole in it fot a hitch and put on in there, turned out great, its attached by two pieces of 6" channel....its stout too, i got pulled out but a Blown 460 ford running 120octane fuel, and cut boggers....he broke a hub pulling on me, and the bumper didnt even budge......i still need to powder coat it too, take a look in my gallery...its in the snow pic....you can kinda see it
