i have a 1978 ranger that i am totally repainting. i will have truck tore down to the frame. my cab is sitting on the shop floor right now. i have to weld in new floor patches but the rest of the cab is rust free and dent free. now i want to change my trucks colour to something new and was wondering what i have to do to propperly prep cab for paint. i think gutting it is step one, but then do i sandblast? or just sand with orbital. also do i remove all the putty? glass? . if so on the glass is there any tips?
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
scott
depends on how far you want to go, 2 ways one is to strip what is conveinent and tape the rest, or second strip it all including window seals, I would cut out seals to pull glass, then order new ones, wouldn't suggest trying to reuse, they won't seal right, and glass will probably break trying to remove. For prep work, sand and prep just like the metal on the out side. No sand blasting it will leave pits, just scuff sand it so paint will adhere.
