But don't giant corporations usually end up getting too big??? Remember old Ma Bell??
Or even better, Sears. They attempted in the early eighties to become a cradle-to-grave store, selling world-wide, being all things to all people. It was a dismal failure, one they are still reeling from, free-falling into oblivian.
I think Wal-Mart will find itself checked naturally at some point. It can follow Sears example or realize a comfortable saturation point.

The government decided Ma Bell was too big and successful, targeting it as a monopoly.
Sears was a victim of poor management, poor marketing and in general missed the boat. I don't see Walmart making those mistakes for quite some time. If you've ever had business dealings with Walmart, they're as tough and sophisticated as it gets.
Also a victim of another age. They were the first company to offer early retirement packages, very generous terms, to employees. In corporate America reality today, it's "You're fired, get your personal effects out today".
Sears also was the first major corporation to be fined by the government for Equal Opportunity Employment violations. Oops.

Only if you're looking for problems. HR person calls, says don't come to work tomorrow, your personal property and a letter of termination are being sent to you (signature required).
