Band, I hope this doesn't come as a news flash, but EVERYBODY gets it put to them by the IRS. Every year. This country should run on about half of what it takes $$$ annually.
Oh No... Definately not a news flash... I was just wondering if anyone had a surprise they weren't expecting... 2002 my wife and I got stuck owing another 2k more than we had paid. 2003 was a better year for us thank goodness.
pretty much everything i buy or spend money on, or own, is a tax write off. so i cant complain about income taxes.
BUT, i have to charge my customers SALES TAX, which i then have to keep until the end of the year. it sucks cause you feel like you have that extra couple thousand dollars, but in reality... its not yours to begin with. worst part is, for the sales tax theres so many issues that you do or dont have to charge for, no one even knows what they have to charge for. i asked the tax guy and he couldnt even give me a straight answer

Since you hold onto that sales tax money for the full year, I would stuff into a savings account & collect interest off from it.
The interest earned will be yours also, It may not seem like much but in the long run it could add up to a new shiny penny or a quarter.
You don't pay your sale tax quarterly? I'm not sure about MN laws, but when I had my shop in NC we had to pay it quarterly or were fined.
well first off, the IRS only collects the taxes, they dont set them. but the main point is, this country went quite a long time without income tax, it was created as a temporary measure for the war effort. Kinda like the bridge tolls in the northeast that were only going to be there until they paid off the construction bill?
the boston tea party was over a %3 tax on tea -- now most people pay nearly %40 of their income in taxes. Wake up America!
