Which Exhaust???
Like to upgrade my exhaust on my 2002 FX4 with the 5.4. Factory has 4 cats and a muffler. Read a lot of notes on these but still unsure what to do to get best performance and sound. Don't really want a loud cruising tone but do want the truck to talk when you are really stepping on it. Also why are there 4 cats? Let me know some of the ideas and problems others have encountered. I would not alter the cats or the Y pipe. Depending on where you live (as well as being a new computer controlled truck), any alteration can cause poor performance, and trouble with you local EPA testing facilities. Do you have a certain budget in mind? Do you prefer stainless steel to aluminized? Would you be replacing only the muffler, or a "catback"? I have heard good things about Magnaflows on the modular Triton motors. I ran a Gibson system on an 01 F150 with the 5.4, and I liked it. It was very quiet in the cab, but had a low rumble at the tail pipe (many thought it was too quiet for the price, but it suited me fine).
