1997 Ford E150 5.4L. Air bag code 32 is for a failed Clockspring. Just had the van into the dealer for this one. Cost of parts 66.34, labor was 199.35. Just FYI...
That sounds about right.. Labor at the stealership is way over priced all the time.... The actual job only takes roughly 45 minutes. The charged you for ~2hours.
I changed mine in 94 Ford Van and it took most of the afternoon. I was being real careful taking out the air bag.....unhooked power for an hour. Then I had a little trouble getting steering wheel off...even with a puller until I banged it with a big hammer. It was my first one so I thought is a little difficult.
Just a further update and maybe a little rant. Now get this...here I am just over two years later and guess what... another Code 32. Failed clockspring again? Un- *&#! -believable. Seems kinda soon for that but I'm gonna tackle it this time, no way I'm paying the dealership again. If anyone has an opinion about this being something else I'm open to all comments.... or is this just another better idea from Ford.
I would go back to the dealer and whine a little about this....two years seems not right. Maybe they didn't get it centered and it was working to one side. And it could be some of the wires came loose.
