Does anyone know where I can get a new cheap wiring harness for a 75 F100. I've looked at a lot of catalogs and 3 or 4 hundred seems to be the norm but I can't afford that right now. I just bought this truck a couple a months ago an it's my first project. The wires are all cracked and about half the stuff in the interior doesn't work. This truck doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, can I make my own wiring harness, if so where can I get a wiring diagram. My Haynes Book has 91/2 pages but it's printed so small it's pretty hard to figure out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can get Ford OEM wiring diagrams in the service manuals available at the online store.
Check the links section in my FTE webpage for suppliers that may be able to help with a wiring harness. Most of us just get a wiring harness out of the salvage yard and make any repairs it needs then install it.
I just finished installing a harness as a methodical novice....if an aftermarket new harness built specifically for your vehicle is designed to pop right in for $3-400...I would consider that to be a really great deal compared to $50 at the wrecker, and 130 hours working out the bugs!!!!!!!!!!
If you're getting a harness,be sure it comes from a vehicle as identicle as possible to yours --any accessory difference will add complexity!
also, keep in mind that in any given circuit, there can be quite a number of functions --pretty complex to self-assemble-just try choosing a circuit, and follow it around the vehicle.--cheers!!
