My '02 X started running rough and stalling which triggered check engine light. I couldn't get a connection to the DLC to read codes, but did find that the white wire in the harness was not connected to the DLC. There is tape on the wire so this may have been a temporary fix by the previous owner. There doesn't seem to be a plug in the connector missing a wire so there is no way of telling which hole the white wire belongs in. Haynes repair manual doesn't have any wiring diagrams that show the DLC, although I may have missed it.
Without a photo or diagram I'm lost as to how to determine where the white wire goes. Need to fix this before I can pull codes.

Have you checked the fuse? That white wire may have nothing to do with your DLC. I think I have a diagram that came with my scanner that shows which pins are used for your vehicle, but I would have to dig that out tomorrow.
