I run the cheap wheels from summit racing on my winter tires and dont have a bit of trouble with them. They are made by US Wheel I have the white spoke wheels with courser otd mt tires, they also make them in black and chrome I only paid 38 bucks a wheel for my white ones and they are 15x10 I think the chrome ones are like 10 bucks more. Give those a try they also balanced very well and are nice heavy thick steel.
Their rims look to be reasonably priced but did you check out their tire prices??? Egads!!! Expensive tires. Don't get your Trxus's from them at THAT price. 4wheelparts.com or eastcoastoffroad.com has much better prices on tires.
I got my mickeys for 120 from diversified in maumee nick and dont mail order those tires from 4 wheel parts warehouse they are located near cleveland I think so you can drive and get them my uncle got his trxus from their for 105 a piece mounted and balanced im pretty sure. For my whole package from diversified included center caps rear and the open front center caps, lug nuts, wheel locks, 4 wheels mounted and balanced and 36x12.50 Tsl radial 10 ply load range E was little over $1500 they will usually match anything you find in the mags and you can get them only 45 min. away from home. I would say either go to maumee or cleveland both will give you competative prices.
Well, I hope that 4wheelparts holds up to their warranty that I bought with my swampers, cuz the tech guy that balanced them again yesterday said that my two rear wheels were out of round by more than an inch and that they were Impossible to balance. I would need them shaved, but then they are too much out of round for shaving and he said in his opionion, they were defective. So i'm calling 4wheelparts today and try to have them warranteed. Problem is that They came from CA and I live in Florida so I don't know how I'm going to ship them back. Perhaps they have a shop they work with in my area that can switch them out.
they are sending me 2 new tires and a UPS call tag to pick mine up.
I just hope the new ones are good. Still though, it doesn't cover all the costs incurred already, ie. balancing numerous times and so forth. Not to mention the aggravation.
I think it's the swamper Radial's. I don't think swamper has been making radials long enough to have it down pat yet. I think their bias ply's probably ride smoother. Either way, after I burn through these, i'm going to stay away from swampers for a while. Pro-comps or Mickey Thompsons are next. I hope these wear out quick.
BTW, new pictures are in my gallery with the Mickey Thompson rims. Very nice looking.
swamper has been making radials for a long time they make 3 different radial tires they are the TSL radial,SSR,and the TRXUS my tsl radials are smooth as silk and any other person I know that run swampers that are radials never had trouble, I think you got two factory seconds that they sold as new. You might not like the mickeys they are noisier than the swampers.
Well I should be getting the 2 rear replacements any day so we'll see if that fixes the problem. however, even my two front tires that they were able to balance, they had to go to my local gym and glue a dumbell set to each tire just to balance them. They have a 4X6 patch of stick weights with a 3x5 patch and a 2x4 patch on top of each other in the inside of each wheel just to balance the tire. What speed are your tires "as smooth as silk"? 50? 55? The speed limit in Fla on the highway is 70mph, and if you don't go at least 75 you'll get run off the road, so I need to ride at least 75-80mph, and at that speed I don't think they are as smooth as silk. Mine are pretty smooth at 50-55.
I dont drive 70-75mph too often but I have had my truck that high many times and they rode just like I was doin 60 mph just a little noisier mine dont have near as much weight and they didnt use tape weights either I got the regular hammer on ones maybe your weights flew off at 75 mph Ive seen that before. Still makes me wonder if they gave you factory seconds and you got lucky on the front two balancing out. As long as they give you free ones its all good but it stil is a pita.
Hey np problem they both will probably be around the same price but you could probably get one them to try and compete for the lowest price until you cant get them to go any lower I got diversified to give me 10 bucks off each wheel thats not much but one penny better than none.
