Is there a site somewhere that has specs and info on the 302's. I have a 302 out of a 79 F-150 that I'm gonna rebuild and drop in my Explorer, but since this is gonna be my first rebuild, I wanna learn as much as I can about the 302, like stated above, plus what exactly will swap onto it (mustang parts) and all that fun stuff. Esp. if I could find a place that give stock numbers like valve lift, Cam specs, stroke, compression, valve springs specs, the more specific, the better.... Thanks in advance guys.
I don't know of a website that specifies 302 specs.
All 302 parts interchange, except the roller lifters and roller camshafts, of course, they are specific to roller blocks, however can be retrofited. Distribuors are specific to the camshafts as well ~ roller cam need a specific distributor gear etc.
Stock compression varied from I beleive, 8:1 - 9:1.
Good luck finding stock cam specification, as in duration @ .050, etc. Stock lift can be found however, for trucks the stock lift was around .2375 lobe lift intake and .2470 (1980-1981) exhaust lobe lift, .2474 (1982 and up) exhaust lobe lift or .380 int and .385~.396 valve lift. You can always put a dial indicator on yours rockers, if you wanna know for sure.
stroke 3"
bore 4"
stock springs are claimed to be good up to .500 lift, do it at your own risk.
That is all I have, as far as, stock specificatons. later
