I pulled into my parking spot in the parking garage at work, turned off the lights, turned off the key, and started to leave my '98 Explorer, and I noticed that the headlights and taillights were still on! Got back in, checked the switched, tried turning it several times, nothing -- lights are still on.
Got back in the truck, started it, tried the switch again, the lights are still on.
Finally, because I had to get to my desk, I disconnected the battery and everything went off.
What the heck is going on?

Ok sorry there is a relay in the headlight system. To test if it is the relay or the switch, look in your owners maunal and find wich relay is the headlight relay. sorry all i have is a haynes manual and it wount tell me anything. turn the head light off. Now remove the headlight relay. Jumper the two wires that are switched. If the lights come on when you jumper it, then it is the switch. If they stay off it is the relay. If you don't know what wires to jump then tell me and i will try to find which ones you need to jump.
