Blinker smoke!
Need some help, I have a 2000 explorer and I'm having a strange electrical problem. This just started, When I turn the left blinker on it will sometimes blink and sometimes it stops blinking. When it stops blinking my brake lights and the left blinker light are all on. The last time this happened I noticed smoke coming up through the hole where the hazard button is. ( I had left it on for about 8 sec). Since that little scare its been working ok. Any thoughts on what might be going bad?.

Im having the same problem...this occured about 3 days ago, i puy my lft turn signal on and it blinked for about a sec then stopped then smoke came out where the hazard button is...im thinking is just the turn signal switch, they have them at auto zone for about $52. its the whole assembly. Im also thinking about finding one at a junk yard.

Don't get one from the junk yard because that might have the same problem. Get a new one. They may have new materials or something.
And I think there's a recall on that for '99 and '00 Explorers. Go to NHTSA website and check.
