Factory sticker wrong?

I've had my truck for a year now and was reviewing some of the paperwork that came with it. What are the chances the factory sticker listing all the options is wrong? Specifically:

38 gallon gas tank - no way, probably 34
off-road package - no off-road stickers, only 4x4
engine block heater - have never found that plug

The specifics on the truck are: 2001 F350 4x4 DRW SC XLT V10 auto

Thanks,

Rip

huh? lol.....

dude.... why do you think it is only 34 gallons? have you filled and emptied and measured?

off road package is just that a 4x4 sticker and a skid plate over the gas tank (and mybe on other place like transfer case).

plug for engine block heater???? please expound.

Factory sticker wrong?

-A couple times I've had the low fuel light come on but have never had to put more than 31 gallons in.

-ok, answered the off-road question

-My understanding with the engine block heater is that it has a plug hidden somewhere behind the front bumper...can't find it

I am looking at my sticker right now for my 2002 F250 SD SC SB V10. It says that the fuel tank is 29 gallons. the CC's have a larger fuel tank in them? I do not have the Off road package on mine but it does have the 4x4 decal on the bed by the rear wheels. I believe that if you ordered the Off road package for the truck it will have a 4x4 with off road under it decal on the rear bed. please correct if I am wrong. Thanks 95rcobra.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Jan-02 AT 07:39 PM (EST)]rip:

low light is set at approx seven gallons from empty from what i have heard... so that sounds about right.

ok.. i am no expert on this engine block heater... anyone?

95r:

short bed is 29... long bed is 38.

as for the sticker???? i have no idea... who cares actually (or sorry, i don't)... the skid plates are the real difference that you should be looking for.

Wow, I didn't know about the 7-8 gallons to go once the light comes on. That's pretty good.

I do have the skid plates so that's what matters. It's just that I've seen other SD's with the 4x4 off-road stickers though none on the dually.

Thanks

It wouldn't suprise me if they forgot the stickers and block heater. They forgot to put the CD player in my truck, even though it was on the window sticker. The dealer made it right.

Factory sticker wrong?

I bought a used 99 F-250 4x4, how can I find out the options that were supposed to come on the truck? I've searched the truck over and I think I have found everything but I'm not sure. Oh yeah, did they offer an engine heater on a V10? I thought that was only for the oil burners.

Thanks
Scott

I believe from reading another thread several months ago that NONE of the duallys say "off road" on the 4x4

Factory sticker wrong?

My plug is behind the vertical plastic portion of the bumper just inboard of the left front tow hook. This is between the hook and the left fog lamp.

It took 4 dealer/sales guys and 1 service rep to find mine for me and I live in Anchorage, Alaska where these things are common!

OBTW, I don't plug mine in until it gets below 20-25 degrees F outside... Above that, the waste in electricity vs the benefits are not really worth it. However, this December it got down to around -10 here in Anchorage and I had it plugged in and on anytime I was parked...

Edmo, You'd think I'd be able to find it with your description but I can't. Any chance you can post, or email, a pic of it? Does the plug come of from underneath or through the grill?

Thanks,

Rip

I have a 2002 F250 SC 4X4 Lariat Auto 3.73LSD V10. I also have the off-road package but do not have the off road decal. The dealer told me that Ford did away with the off road decal in 2002.

Factory sticker wrong?

:-X23

I haven't really had to time to look as hard as I obviously need to, but I ordered my V-10 with the block heater, and I can't find the plug either! Any more advice on where to find the damn plug??

I got the sticker with my off road package, but if I didn't I wouldn't worry. Sooner or later its going to fade and peel anyway....more headaches I guess!

I know it has a blanket around the battery, but I can't find the cord. Is that blanket on all the V-10's or only with the block heater?

The battery blanket has been on both of my trucks... neither has a block heater.

I'd go back to the dealer and make them show me where the heater plug is located. Should have been part of the delivery checklist!
