Went to Mardi Gras in Williamsport PA last night. Pretty lame, too cold to stay on the streets. Plus we missed the parade.
But there were free buses taking people from bar to bar. We hit 6 or 7 last night between 9:00 and 2:00. I think I overdid it at the last bar.
I don't get hangovers, never have, but I think I might have one now. I can't move too fast or I get dizzy. Maybe I'm still a little inebriated. Glad I only do this a couple times a year.
Anyone go to the real Mardi Gras? Bet it was a lot warmer down there!
The ppl im house sitting for this weekend is down at mardi gras as we speak. Theyve called once, and said they having a great time. The only thing id wanna go for is the *****, but i can see those here without having to travel very far, lol.
I also went to williamsports mardis gras, I have been going every year for the past 4 years we enjoy it eventhough its pretty lame but it beats spending the night in Berwick I could have done with out the hangover this morning.
About 30 minutes south of where I live. There is a city called San Luis Obispo that has Mardi Gras every year. Its been called the biggest one west of the Mississippi. But anyways, the had a riot there, and ppl were setting car a stuff on fire. Glad I didnt go.
friday night i went to atlantic city NJ to a place called Showboat they bill it as the mardi gras casino ( Big deal) lol my old lady got h erself a set of mardi gras beads when she signed up for the comp card thing but im in the dog house i told the kids ( age sixteen and fifteen) that mommy went on Springer and flashed everyone.....kids laughed but the old lady dont seem too ammused
I've been to New Orleans for the real Mardi Gras. All I have to say is WOW I dodn't want to get too graphic, but lets just say that after that my titilation threashhold (no pun intended) was raised to the point that I was actually bored at an Italian topless beach last summer.
No hangover, I was still a little drunk this AM. Slugged a gatorade and all is good.
79Modified, you're in Berwick? Didn't see any pics in your gallery, I might have recognized your truck. That's where we bought our Bronco. (Penn Motors)
I've always wanted to go to Louisiana for Mardi Gras. I saw some of the Girls Gone Wild videos my husband brought home, looked like fun! Why aren't there Guys Gone Nuts videos I wonder? ;-P
Best time I ever had at something like that was in Savannah GA. I used to go to River Street for St. Paddy's every year. They used to give beads and souvenirs for flashing, but I heard the cops started cracking down. It was a lot of fun and great food, and you could get a yard o' beer or a 1-gallon mixed drink and carry it around with you on the street.

Easy. There's no Guys gone nuts videos because if a guy hangs out Junior and the Twins, he goes to jail. Of course, if a woman shows anything below the waist, she rides, too.
That said, I've lived in the Mardi Gras City all my life, and I've gotta gell ya, Mardi Gras is really sliding downhill. Not because of the flashing (That really only happens in the French Quarter ) but because of the continuing commercialization and increasing violence in the area.
Last Wednesday, there was a shooting at the Krewe of Muses parade, due to an argument betweenfriends, that left 1 person (an 18 year old single mother of a 6 month old baby) dead and 4 others wounded. None of them had anything to do with the original argument! Thankfully, the NOPD caught the 4 schmucks that did the shooting, and is holding them for trial. The Krewe of Muses opened a trust account for the baby.
That's why I stay out of the city during Mardi Gras, and usually only see parades in my area (Chalmette) or in the other family-friendly area (Metairie). When you think about it, it's very sad. I grew up in the city, and Mardi Gras was something we all looked forward to. Now, we just avoid it.
Donty get me started. Mardi Gras is overdone. I mean, one in started off as a Catholic observation/party. And now every one and their mother wants to jump intp OUR party. I mean Bible Beater Central wher I live has stuff up for local Mardi Gras things., I MEAN COME ON!!!!!!! Most people dont even know what Mardi Gras stands for what the words translate to in English, or what language they are in. Secondly, tehy have no idea what the reason for it is in the first place! And not 'just to habve some fun' I mean the biblical reason behind why my church (Roman Catholic) does this whole Mardi Gras thing.
I lived up the road from N.O. for five years (Baton Rouge), went down for Mardi Gras one time - that was more than enough. Most of that collection of degenerates are out-of-staters, the natives generally stay away.
I went down to N.O. every once in a while, but never for the majopr parades, just the smaller ones. Dono is right though most of the party idiots are out of staters.
There is only one real Mardi Gras and that is in New Orleans. Born and raised here I have seen it all when it comes to Mardi Gras. A lot of other places are trying to cash in on the Mardi Gras phenomenon by having their own Mardi Gras but none come close to the Big Easy's festivities. I do not care where you have been to Mardi Gras whether its Pennsylvania, Georgia, Mississippi it is not actually Mardi Gras. No pun intended but its the honest to God truth and you have to experience it for yourself to know what I mean. I no longer go in the French Quarter for Mardi Gras its kind of like been there, done that, got the t-shirt kind of thing. I attend parades in Chalmette and that's it. I notice there is another Chalmette native here and I know exactly where he is coming from. No matter where you are at whether it be in Chalmette, Metairie, Slidell (all suburbs & cities surrounding N.O) Mardi Gras only exists in New Orleans. You all should try it someday because it is quite the experience for most.
I have always wanted to go at least once to it(the real one)but after reading what it has become now I dont know.Isnt there anything else besides booze and flashers?
Try the one in Rio de Janerio for a party. Make sure you take some BIG friends though; it can get pretty rough.
Beers are less than a nickle, coffee is a penny/cup. Don't look for ice. Don't eat the meat. Admire and drool over the women. Jeez - they are BEAUTIFUL.
