We shared our Thanksgivin diner with an illegal hispanic alien.........Nice fellow who works with our son........He was from Nicaragua and a veternerian in his home country
My family and I went to the New Orleans Fairgrounds for the opening day of Thouroghbred horse racing. TG day is traditionally the opening day of the season, but it was not able to open last year due to Katrina. Also, it was the 135th year of racing at the fairgrounds. It is arguably the oldest track in America, but because of semantics, it is oficially the 3rd oldest, behind Saratoga and Pimlico.
Anyway, it was a blast. No turkey dinner, but we had really good corned beef sandwiches and cold beer. Didn't really win much, but didn't really bet a whole bunch, either.
I worked on my truck, watched a few eposodes of the "Pinks" marathon on SpeedVision and ate a Banquet frozen turkey dinner. Nice, quiet relaxing day...
My uncle, who I had to clean out his apartment because he's in 24hr care, has demensia, and is getting bad. (when does demensia ever get better)
I got a call from my dad on thanksgiving day, who I haven't talked to since the mid 80s.
His wife has Lou Gehrig's disease.
I talked to a friend of mine, and he told me his dad had committed suicide.
I called an old highschool friend to wish her and her husband happy thanksgiving and she told me her dad is in hospice because he has 3 types of cancer.
Now the kicker; she called me friday, a day after thanksgiving and told me her husband died of a massive heart attack thanksgiving evening.
He was only 50.
Sorry for the downer post.
Like I said, my thanksgiving day was quiet.
But the others?
I hope everyone here had a good and safe thanksgiving.
Mine was great!!
The wife and son were in Hawaii all week (for the HS band) Did nothing but work on the truck. Al the neighbors brought massive amounts of turkey over, I can eat for a week, and the best part nothing to clean up. I did get a lot done on the '60
I has been a good holiday. A lot to be thankful for. I have great kids, a fantastic wife, roof over my head, and food in my stomach. Well too much food in my stomach. I got to talk to all my kids, as they all live several hundred miles from me. I got to talk to my oldest son who is in the Marine corps, stationed in Okinawa. I have been a little stressed, because he is going to Iraq in Janurary. It was good to hear his voice. I won't get to see him until he gets back from the middle east. I sure miss him and my little 2 year old granddaughter.
