Well, we had quite the little snow storm here yesterday with 20-30 mph winds. that means good big long drifts to go blasting through trying to get family members out of their homes. Played in the deep snow for abour 2hours. After I was finished and got back to the highway I switched my truck out of 4 wheel drive. The switch turned, but the 4 wheel drive did not shut off. I finally just assumed it was due to the snow that was packed in my wheels. I spent about 30 min trying to bust out as much of it as I could, then I locked and unlocked my hubs 3 or 4 times and shut my truck down. When I started it up the 4 wheel drive disengaged. My question is, what made the thing stick, and are there any home made of aftermarket fixes for making it not stick again?
The drive line is in a bind. Drive back and forth a few times, then stop with the tranny in neutral. When stopped in neutral you may also ned to remove your foot from the brake to ensure it's not instoducing any binding.
there is a sequence the truck needs to see before it will come out of low in the transfercase. you are not the first and myself and several other people here have learned this like you. even replaced several transfer case motors before we figured this out.
truck must be in netrual
sitting still
foot on brake
if it does not see all these at once it will not come out of low range.
I agree with the posts above. You can put it in and out of 4 high while moving, but if you check the manual, it specifically says that you must be stoped, transmission in nuetral, foot on the brake, to put it in or out of 4 low.
