I know this has been covered pretty well but I still have some questions.
I am in the process of hooking up extra reverse lights. My question are 1. Every one says use a relay when pigtailing into the reverse lights, I have an 08250 so I think my upfitters already have a relay in them, correct? 2. If it does do I just pigtail into the reverse lights for my trailer hook up or my actual reverse lights? 3. Then do I attach my lights directly to my upfiter wires located under my steering collum or near the relay under the hood? Any other advice if someone has done a similar mod? than
Why are you "pigtailing" into the reverse lights? Just devote a switch to the new rear lights and turn them on when you need them. Do you leave your truck in Reverse when trailering by yourself or do you put it in Park?

Kind of seems like a good idea to me. Then if you forget to turn them off while driving you won't be illegal.Sorry I can't help with the OP questions.
First you need to decide how you want them to work, then we can give you better instructions.
Do you want them to come on with a switch, do you want them to come on when you shift into reverse, or do you want them to come on when you do either one?
I would like them to come on both ways, if possible. thanks
Use a diode simular to these... http://www.bageco.com/motor_electric.htm
Wire one diode input with a relay straight to the reverse lights, and the other side straight to whatever Upfitter Switch is best suited for the size lights you are using.
