I was wondering if anyone has had the problem that their horn becomes stuck on. Last night at midnight while I slept the horn suddenly went off and would not stop by using the door lock remote. I opened the door and it quit. Then 1.2 hrs later it did the same. I finally disconected both batteries so not to disturb the neighbors again. 99F-250 SD. It has been raining a lot lately? Thanks for any advice
there were problems during development of the airbag w/ 'constant horns' in cold weather. the dym100 v. dym500 substrate expand/contract at differing rates, but there was supposed to be enuf room b/w the two surfaces to allow for horn membrane to NOT be depressed. depending on the manufacturing of the a/b, the bag folds could've chewed up some of that room. massage your a/b and see if there is any noticable 'air-gap' under the cover. maybe w/ batts disconnected, apply decent pressure to 'make room' b/w the two layers. u can also try 'tapping' your horn at various locations to see if there are 'light effort' areas (typically towards the 12:00 position).
uh, re-read your note. if the horn stopped w/ the door open, nevermind my above, sounds electrical. oOoooff..
Most likely its the horn touch pad on top of the airbag. Mine did the same thing cause someone took a pen and put a dent in the front horn face. I took it all apart and replaced the touch pad..
What truck and year?
Still have not located the problem. I agree that if the door opens and the horn shuts off, it would not be stuck switch. I removed the fuse last night so as not to wake the neighbors. Will be looking around in the next few days for the problem, IF it occurs again, which it did not yesterday during the day. Thanks for any other advice.
