I am happy to finally find this site. I have been nosing around for the better part of 10 years looking for a Ford site. My family is a Ford family and I have been driving fords since 71 when I got my first Galaxy 500 convertible.
It is not a typo... I have been riding on 295.75.16's. The 98 lariat came with 17.8 rims and I ditched them for 16.10 bahas. I love these tires. And yes I do run 65psi in them. Seems to help out with wear, and they wear evenly. I rotate about every 8k... Hope this helps. I will try and find a pix of my truck. I am enamored with Ford.
Nope not a typo, I was thinking the same thing. So i checked my database and lo and behold BFG makes a 295/75/16! I own an alignment/tire shop its been a loooonnnngggg time since i've seen that number pop up so I thought they had quit making that size. Nitto also makes the Nitto terra grappler in that size, just to give you some options. I have heard a lot of good things about the Terra Grappler's as well as the BFG's. In the end its all your choice!
lariatrider rides on.....
cool site for tire size conversion and dimensions. follow this link -find your wheel size and click "show". awesome site. good luck guys. my problem is finding a 17" tire thatis not a million bucks. ford must have a deal with BFG and Goodyear. damn these things are expensive. you'd be better off going to desertrat.com. you can get a whole set of rims and tires for less than what it would cost for just a set of bfg's! look at the packages on 15"rims. then you can easily switch back to your "street tires" when you need to take a long trip or for summer.
yeah the tires are expensive for that size rim, but the bad part is that 15 in. wheels won't fit on 97 and up f150's, i have 16 in. wheels and the tires were not that expensive. hope they will last a while
it is my buddy with the f150. my truck has 16's and i just bought dunlop mud rovers. anyone with 16's should look at these. i got a killer deal on them. 285/75/16's for 125 each mounted and balanced. it seems that 15's and 16's are easy to find a wide variety of, but 17's are tough. just GY and BFG. the dunlops are inexpensive, aggressive looking, and every review i have read raves about them. best of all, people say they have 40,00 plus miles on them and plenty of tread left. i dont know what i will recomend for this friend of mine. i am thinking about asking him if he wants to go with a 265/70/17 mud rover. it is shorter but only by .55 inches. what do you guys think?
I am running a 325 60 x18 Toyo AT's all around on my 02 4x4 with no lift and only minor rub on the back side of the front tires at full turn. I did have to shave the bumper valance a touch with a die grinder to prevent contact there. I have checked on several tire web sites that only offer up to a 285 for this application.
I will have to say that I am impressed with the tire and the improved handling.........I tend to drive my 4x4 like a hot rod and love to stick the nose in hard on corners. Only thing I need to do at this point is reduce the body roll in front and improve braking to really enjoy driving it.
I am workin on the photo's, as for fit they fit fine without a lift, I had to crank up my torsion bars a bit to prevent scrubbing when I made hard turns but that has not effected anything so far, I have had the wheels realigned and there seems to be no ill effect whatsoever, and they look real good, IMHO
I have a 2001 F150 4x4 s/c with 285 75R 16 with stock suspension and they fit and look nice, no probs at all, i really like them, by the way they are BFG all terrian t/a's
I have a 97 4x4 and my nephew and I put 305 x 50 x 20's on. They look really good and fill the wheel well better. There are no clearence problems. I've been wondering about speedo recal. The truck will only be used for trips to Lowes and such.
