Alright, my friend has a '94 or '95 F150. He found water in the oil, and all symptoms indicated a hea d gas ket at least. So we pulled the hea d, and found the #1 pisto n cracked and burned, and a couple of valevs chipped, so I went to the boneyard, but couldn't find any FI 4.9Liters. there was an old carbo-ratted engine there. My question is does anyone know if I can use this engien in the FI application? I suspect it may be kinda worn out, but the other option would be to find a pistin and a couple of valevs and repair the one in his truck. I would prefer a total overhaul, but he hasn't got the money to accomplish that.
If you can determine that the carb motor is in good working order, i don't see why you couldn't swap the Fuelie stuff to the carby motor and get the truck back in working order.
Note though, that the truck may run different, and may feel more or less powerful depending on how that motor was built, if it was, etc etc. Also note that the Fuel injection engine uses a fast burn head, while the carb head doesn't have these type combustion chambers... it might yield a slightly lower mpg... i've heard rumors of this but its unconfirmed.
