The di-electric tune up/connector grease finally arrived here in manila and the driver-side door rattle/noise is GONE. Also applied the grease to all the doors and rear opening and the interior now has never been that quiet.
All the way around the front, top and rear of the door openinf. There is an inner large rubbery gasket and a smaller harde one on the outside of the first one.
I have a 2003 Expedition I bought for my wife in 10/03.
It's going in tomorrow to get all 4 brakes redone with the new pads to fix the awful brake dust tomorrow morning.
It is also going back for an annoying rubbing noise/squeak on the driver door.
So far they have replaced the window run, body seal, latch, then finally I took them for a ride and showed them that when I apply pressure on the top of door while I'm driving the noise stops.
So with that they re aligned the door. He told me that they moved the door 1/16" of an inch. The noise went away for about 3 weeks and then it gradually came back.
Now, I will ask them to look a it again tomorrow, but I'm getting concerned that the door won't stay aligned.
Any thoughts or has anyone experienced this.
Thanks
I will relate to you a prob. I felt was comming from the door, it was a rub or rattle noise that sounded while I was in motion, from the pass. side door.
Sound can play tricks ... I attacted the door...I will not mention the cost of investigation.
I found the prob. myself " it was the top rack" above the sun roof. The bar that crosses over from driver to pass. side has some "play" only a few (.009 )clearance.
The wind turbulance when in motion would activate the bar to vibrate and the sound was projected to the door. (The headliner is aligned with materal that deflects outside sounds, thus accounts for the echo)
At any rate, after many hours of bucks and time I "cocked" one side of the roof rack adjustment and made certain the cross bar had no play at all.
OK guys maybe I'm a dimbulb. I've had my '04 Expy into the dealer for a rattle coming from the driver's side window. Sounds like the window is loose or something. EXTREMELY IRRITATING!! I mean drive the truck into a telephone pole irritating.
SO, they put some white litium grease looking stuff in the tracks of the window itself. Did a terrible job too, and did nothing for the problem! Bob, are you talking about putting this silicone in the window track seals or on the seals between the door and the truck itself?
